Small, native creeping plant often found in broad-leaved woodlands, with small dark green lanceolate leaves and solitary violet-blue flowers, which appear at the start of spring.
The genus name derives from the Latin “vincere”, meaning to bind or fetter, because its long creeping vines were traditionally used to make the garlands that young girls would wear around their heads.
