Native campanula with a strong taproot and long basal leaves, gradually becoming smaller towards the top, where long leafy inflorescences are borne.
Grows on the margins of woods, in hedgerows and at the sides of footpaths.
The specific epithet, deriving from the Greek “trachelos”, meaning throat, owes to the fact that the plant was formerly believed to cure diseases of the throat, due to the throat-like shape of its flowers.
